Abstract Submission: new extended deadline is Friday 13th of December, 2019.

On June 24th-27th 2020, the Kemmy Business School (KBS), Ireland’s only UN PRME-champion school at the University of Limerick, will host the 7th biennial International Symposium on Cross-Sector Social Interactions (CSSI 2020). The CSSI symposia is an important gathering of practitioners and academics who come to share best practice and to discuss future issues in the design and practice of cross-sector partnerships. It is a setting where policy makers, civil servants, CEOs, and academics can discuss the nature and role of partnering and multi- stakeholder initiatives to address key challenges in, for example, climate, energy, poverty urbanization, and sustainable development.

The theme of CSSI 2020 will be “Putting Partnerships in their Place: Exploring the relationships between Practices, Policy and Place in Cross Sector Organising.” At the event, academics and practitioners will present and discuss new and innovative ideas for organizing and managing cross-sector collaboration. We are specifically interested in “putting partnerships in their place” by more fully specifying how complex cross-sector alliances (SDG 17) engage morally and materially with places ranging from land to water to cities and transitional communities (SDG 14, 6, 15, 11). Greater sensitivity to how place constrains and enables organizing and the multiple scales implied by wicked issues like climate change can enrich theories of cross-sector partnerships in settings riddled with entrenched inequality and fragility. Successful partnerships redefine the meaning of places. Eco-systems co-evolve with the places they emerge in, and place itself is often a critical resource in how partnership eco-systems evolve.

We welcome papers on any topic relating to cross sector partnerships and their organization, processes and impacts. We are especially eager to see papers that explore the theme of place in cross sector partnering. This can be done through academic papers or more practice orientated case studies.

Submission:
750 word  abstract/industry case study (excl references). Full papers are due by March 22nd for those authors with accepted abstracts who wish to be considered for Routledge Best Paper Award in Social Partnership, and for the JBE Special Issue (including special issue panel discussion on 24th June, 2020)
