AMP-SIM webinar on “Research that matters: Publishing scholarship that solves social issues”

When:  May 8, 2026 from 11:00 to 12:00 (ET)
SIMians know that society is our business, but do our studies do enough to guide business in improving society? Too often, our studies describe and theorize, perhaps culminating in managerial implications. But practitioners and policy makers will not change their behaviors based on broad implications. They need specific and actionable guidance, drawn directly from rigorous analysis. We can provide it; we have the skills. But we need to reframe our approach to scholarly studies. Let’s discuss how to conduct studies that really matter.

Thus, we would like to invite you to a 60-minute online event on May 8th 2026 at 1100 EDT (0800 PDT, 1600 BST, 2030 IST) in which Mike Barnett (Editor, Academy of Management Perspectives) will be delivering a focussed session on how to bridge the gap between SIM scholarship and real-world impact and on ensuring our work has a direct, credible influence on the stakeholders, organisations, and managers who need it the most. This session is a good opportunity for all researchers on learning how to increase the reach of their work and obtaining practical insights on developing responsible scholarship that guides practice and policy decision-making.
