    Call for Papers

Alternative Paths: The Business and Modern Slavery Research 2024 Conference
    10-11 September 2024

The 2024 Business and Modern Slavery Research Conference will take place on Tuesday 10th & Wednesday 11th September in-person and will be hosted by the University of Sussex Business School. This conference is co-organised by Hult International Business School

Abusive labour practices and the business systems that produce, accentuate, and shelter them are increasingly exercising policymakers around the world. As this trend has grown, both scholars and industry experts have undertaken research, which is broad in scope, transcending disciplinary boundaries, and offers insights into management practices and working conditions. This conference brings together researchers in the growing research community from across business disciplines to develop ongoing work and build links with peers towards future endeavours, offering a mixture of in-depth analysis and a platform to discuss alternative paths on topics related to modern slavery.

With dedicated mentoring sessions for early career scholars and a post-conference paper development workshop to help advance work for publication, it should be an unmissable opportunity for anyone looking to build their research skills, connections, and impact in the area of business and modern slavery.

We will also host workshops on Wednesday 11 September for anyone interested in submitting to the special issue in Supply Chain Management: An International Journal and for Early Career Researchers.

Whether you have an idea for a research project you'd like to get some help with or you'd like to showcase a project you've done to let us know how your area of our field is developing; whether you're a 1st year PhD who wants to know what research is being done, an established scholar interested in where your research might fit into the growing body of research on modern slavery or #bizhumanrights or you'd like to be part of a community of researchers investigating these broad, important topics, all are welcome.

Full details are on the  conference website (https://www.sussex.ac.uk/business-school/research/events/modern-slavery-2024-conference) and in the attached call for papers.  Deadline for submission of abstracts is Wednesday May 15, 2024.  Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

We look forward to welcoming you in Bristol!
