The SIM Communications Committee is excited to share a message from our Communications Committee Chair, @David Skandera, with updates on current Communications Committee events.

To support the growth of the SIM Division, especially among early-career and international scholars, the Communications Committee focuses on growing volunteer opportunities and modernizing our communications.

    Growing our Volunteer Opportunities

We have formalized existing roles and added new ones to meet new communication demands as SIM grows, but also to offer members a chance to be involved actively with SIM.

Check out the purpose of the committee and our amazing volunteers here .  You will also find information on all other committees and volunteer opportunities.

A special shoutout goes to Susan Cooper, who served as SIM's social media manager for a long while and grew the division's social media presence on LinkedIn and Bluesky. We are extremely grateful for her service, and our members will benefit from her efforts for years to come.

    Modernizing our Communications

The central strategic initiative of the Communications Committee this year (and beyond) is to modernize our communications for a digital world and new generations of members and leaders.

    In the short-term, this entails:

Establishing periodic "News Blasts". This platform delivers timely updates from SIM leaders and committee chairs, as well as information on upcoming virtual and in-person events. News Blasts will be delivered directly to members' email inboxes – at the beginning of the year, at the end of Spring, and shortly before the AOM Annual Meeting. The SIMian will continue to be produced following AOM to highlight our new SIM leaders and award winners.

More coordinated social media. We have worked with SIM leaders and committees to establish social media best practices that help maximize the likelihood of members seeing and engaging with content and offerings highlighted by the Division. SIM leaders and committee chairs now follow cross-posting, reposting, sharing, and tagging best practices.

Expanding our digital footprint in underserved regions. Many of our members (and volunteers) hail from regions that have often been overlooked in the management sciences. We are proud of the SIM Division to be a bridge and academic home for scholars from these regions. Ana Rossato Facco joined us for the specific purpose of establishing SIM's social media presence in non-Western regions. This effort has been put on hold with Ana taking over all of SIM's social media, but we plan to recruit further help in 2026 to revitalize this effort.

In collaboration with the Research and Impact/Outreach committees, Aditya Simha is working to launch SIM's podcast series – the SIMcast. More information will follow soon as our podcast launches.
