Building Stronger Research Communities: A new initiative for experienced SIM scholars
The SIM Research Committee launches a new initiative designed to foster year-round conversations among mid-career and senior scholars.

Research careers continue to evolve long after promotion and tenure. New funding landscapes, changing publication practices, artificial intelligence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and growing expectations for societal impact present both opportunities and challenges for experienced scholars.
While academic conferences often provide opportunities for doctoral students and early-career scholars to receive mentoring and professional development, comparable spaces for more experienced academics are relatively uncommon.
Recognizing these realities, we invite mid-career and senior members of the Division to this space for honest conversation among experienced colleagues. Facilitators will guide table discussion as reflective listeners and idea generators, encouraging participants to exchange perspectives in an open and collegial environment.

Beyond a single workshop
This initiative stretches beyond a one-time conference session at AOM. Growing from insights shared during a virtual gathering earlier this year, the Seasoned Researcher Connection – Conversations for Experienced Social Impact Scholars (ID: 10735) is envisioned to support a sustained community of experienced scholars whose conversations continue throughout the year.
By strengthening these connections, the committee hopes to encourage new collaborations while supporting SIM scholars as they navigate changing research environments.

This session is intended primarily for mid-career and senior scholars interested in sharing experiences, reflecting on common challenges, and contributing to an ongoing community of practice within SIM.
Participants are encouraged to come prepared for conversation rather than presentation.
