The Global Scholar Committee is working to make SIM more accessible by strengthening outreach, supporting early-career scholars, and building connections across underrepresented regions.

Building pathways into SIM
Outstanding scholarship benefits from diverse voices and perspectives. Yet many scholars around the world continue to face barriers to participating in international academic communities, from limited access to professional networks and mentoring to fewer opportunities for collaboration and publication.
The Global Scholar Committee seeks to reduce these barriers by strengthening awareness of the SIM Division, supporting early-career scholars, and creating pathways into the Academy of Management and the global SIM community.
Over the past year, the committee expanded its outreach through regional events, practical resources, and initiatives designed to connect scholars across regions and career stages.
Taking SIM around the world
This year, the committee organized and supported outreach activities across multiple regions, engaging scholars through both virtual and in-person events.
Highlights included:
- a virtual workshop for scholars from the MENA region in navigating AOM and SIM opportunities;
- in-person outreach events in Eastern Europe, where discussions highlighted strong interest in international collaboration and paper development opportunities
- research seminars and networking activities in the Asia-Pacific region;
- a Journal of Business Ethics Paper Development Workshop in Buenos Aires, Argentina that brought together scholars from across Latin America to strengthen publication pipelines and expand regional engagement with SIM.
Overall, these initiatives underscore the value of regionally embedded, skills-oriented outreach as a high-impact, low-barrier approach to expanding SIM's global scholarly community.
These initiatives introduced new audiences to the Division while helping build relationships with scholars who may not yet have had opportunities to participate actively in AOM.
