    Murrin Chair

    Senior faculty holding associate or full professor rank who have a significant history of research accomplishment and impact are welcome to apply for the Thomas J. and Marie C. Murrin Chair in Global Competitiveness.  The Murrin Chair includes a nine credit-hour teaching load per academic year as well as a discretionary fund to support research and travel.  Applicants with expertise and interests in sustainability, along with CSR/ethics, entrepreneurship, and/or strategic management, are especially welcome. Responsibilities include scholarship, service and teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.

    Qualifications

    •An earned Ph.D. in Management or a related field from an AACSB-accredited business school.

    •Attained rank of associate or full professor plus a demonstrable record of research accomplishment and publication with an active pipeline.

    •Committed to teaching excellence.

    •A collegial and collaborative citizenship orientation committed to program development.

     Desired Attributes

    •Practitioner experience in the candidate's areas of primary or secondary interest.

    •Experience with graduate teaching, online instruction and/or executive education.

    •Interest in or experience with interdisciplinary scholarship.

    Support

    We offer a collegial environment, competitive salaries, easy access to the Pittsburgh business community and support for high-quality teaching. Specifically, the School offers a summer grant program (with priority given to junior faculty), ongoing funding for scholarship, plus research, teaching and service awards for our best faculty. We also subscribe to several research databases and offer research active faculty graduate student support. There are currently 11 named faculty positions in the School, 6 of which are rotating faculty fellowships aimed at recently tenured associate professors.

    School and Department

    The AACSB-accredited Palumbo-Donahue School of Business has approximately 1400 undergraduate and graduate students. The Management and Marketing Department supports several degree programs, including the B.S.B.A (department majors include entrepreneurship, management, and marketing).  The department also support our PMBA (aimed at working adults) and the Full-Time MBA (which has a strong emphasis on sustainability and is ranked as a top "better world" MBA, currently #1 in the U.S.). The Department has 21 full-time faculty members including 9 tenured or tenure-track faculty focusing on disciplines within management. Over the past 3 academic years, department faculty members have published nearly 50 peer reviewed articles in leading outlets such as Academy of Management Perspectives, and Journal of Business Ethics.  The Department is also home to 4 centers (i.e., in ethics, entrepreneurship, professional selling, and sustainable business innovation).  For instance, the Center for excellence in Entrepreneurship hosts the annual Duquesne New Venture Challenge while the Viragh Institute for Ethics in Business produces an annual research-oriented book series (Business and Society 360) and is the home of Business and Society Review, a scholarly journal published by Wiley.
