Join our PDW: Bridging the West vs. Non-West Divide in Management and Entrepreneurship!

Our session is scheduled for Friday, Jul 25 2025 12:00PM - 2:45PM CEST (GMT+2/UTC+2) at Bella Center in Hall B- B1-m4. Here is the link to the session in the AOM program

The workshop consists in an interactive panel discussion around the West versus non-West divide in our scholarly conversations (as well as common biases), followed by a roundtable discussion focused on generating ideas to bridge diverse perspectives and worldviews in management and entrepreneurship.

📚 The PDW will feature voices from Africa, Asia, Middle East, Europe, South and North America, as well as indigenous voices to explore essential questions such as:

What Western theories, ontologies, and epistemologies dominate mainstream management and entrepreneurship conversations, and how do they marginalize non-Western perspectives? How can these frameworks be reimagined to more equitably integrate non-Western knowledge systems?

How do entrepreneurs in non-Western contexts navigate and challenge Western principles while preserving their local cultural and epistemological foundations? What lessons can this offer for reframing global entrepreneurship practices?

In what ways can entrepreneurs from non-Western contexts leverage their local knowledge and indigenous worldviews to not only protect natural and social ecosystems but also to challenge unsustainable Western entrepreneurial models?

What barriers within Western-dominated academic and institutional systems hinder equitable research partnerships? How can these systems be transformed to genuinely prioritize non-Western perspectives in shaping global research agendas?

We look forward to seeing you in our workshop!
