The war in Ukraine is the latest, terrible example of modernity becoming unhinged, derailed and appropriated towards violent ends. As organization and management scholars, one can sometimes feel helpless and overwhelmed not just by this reality but also by the lack of conceptual apparatus we have in our field to deal with this history. We analyze how firms and other organizations are managed, both internally and in relation to stakeholders. Wars and other acts of organized violence don't fit into this picture. Or so it seems.

This two-hour long webinar is designed for organization, management and business analysts to pause and think, putting organized violence in its various historical and geographical contexts. A range of speakers from across the world will shine light on the close links between organization, management, business and violence.

Confirmed speakers are (in alphabetical order):
Samer Abdelnour, University of Edinburgh Business School, University of Edinburgh
Bobby Banerjee, Bayes Business School, City, University of London
Jana Costas, Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder)
Maria Ceci Misoczky, Escola de Administração, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul
Guido Palazzo, HEC, Université de Lausanne
Stefano Pascucci, University of Exeter Business School, University of Exeter
Hèla Yousfi, Dauphine Recherches en Management, Université Paris-Dauphine-PSL

Each speaker will give a short, concise presentation (about 10 min), allowing the audience to listen to a broad range of research on organized violence. There will be time for Q&As. The event will be moderated by Steffen Böhm, University of Exeter Business School.
