  • 1.  SIM-related activities or meetups before AOM 2026, 28–30 July

    Posted 20 days ago

    Dear SIM colleagues,

I will be arriving in Philadelphia a few days before the AOM Annual Meeting and wanted to ask whether there are any SIM-related activities, informal meetups, doctoral gatherings, or networking opportunities taking place on 28, 29, or 30 July.

I am a doctoral student working on social entrepreneurship, mission drift, impact fidelity, and purpose-driven ventures, with a particular interest in how organizations preserve their social mission while responding to investor, market, stakeholder, and scaling pressures.

I would be especially interested in events or informal gatherings connected to social entrepreneurship, business ethics, sustainability, impact investing, purpose-driven organizations, responsible innovation, or qualitative research. I would also be happy to connect with other PhD students and early-career scholars arriving before the official programme begins.

If you know of any workshops, local events, pre-conference activities, or informal meetups during these dates, I would be very grateful if you could share them.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Best regards,

    Dear Elizaveta,

On behalf of SIM Division and the Membership Committee, welcome to the SIM community! You do relevant and fascinating research - and there are many of us whose research intersect with these topics!

To answer your questions, as of now, I am not aware of informal/official SIM events happening during July 28th to 30th, as most of us might be travelling. However, from July 31st to 4th, there is a fantastic lineup of events in the programme (e.g., PDWs, plenary, keynote, outstanding submissions' sessions, business meeting, reception) - and we are currently also organising off-programme (i.e., informal) events as well. The off-programme events will be circulated via the listserv and also our LinkedIn page: https://www.linkedin.com/company/sim-division-aom/posts/?feedView=all There's also a vibrant and supportive PhD community, with an active WhatsApp group- it is a great way to arrange informal meetups too.

Feel free to email me directly and I will connect you to our PhD rep-at-large!

Looking forward to meeting you in Philadelphia!

    Sarah
