SIM Division Teaching PDW: Transforming Management Education for System Flourishing (ID:15636)
The centrepiece of this year's activities is the inaugural Teaching Professional Development Workshop, Transforming Management Education for System Flourishing.
The workshop brings together distinguished scholars Donna Hicks, Matthew T. Lee, and Michael Pirson, with Sandra Waddock serving as moderator. Together, they will explore how concepts such as dignity, love, flourishing, and humanistic management can inform contemporary management education.
Rather than focusing solely on theory, the session is designed to provide participants with practical approaches that can be incorporated into teaching practice.
Two complementary learning experiences
The workshop consists of two interconnected parts.
Part I features an interactive panel discussion examining how management education can foster human flourishing and responsible leadership.
Part II provides facilitated small-group conversations where participants work with experienced SIM educators to exchange teaching resources, discuss classroom challenges, and develop practical strategies for their own courses.

Celebrating a year of building teaching resources
Over the past year, the Teaching Committee has expanded opportunities for SIM members to connect around teaching throughout the year.
The committee welcomed members from 29 countries to two virtual PDWs addressing topics such as teaching portfolios, navigating classroom conflict, artificial intelligence, and human dignity. It also launched the first SIMply Teaching Conversation Hour, creating a space for thoughtful discussion about approaching sensitive social issues with care, inclusivity, and respect.
Most recently, the committee introduced SIMBytes Teaching Moments -a series of short videos featuring experienced SIM scholars sharing practical teaching insights. The inaugural series features R. Edward Freeman, whose reflections offer concise lessons drawn from decades of scholarship and teaching.
Together, these initiatives reflect the committee's broader goal of creating an ongoing community of educator-scholars that extends beyond the Annual Meeting.
