    Tenure track position in Business

    Full-time  • Open until October 17, 2022 • Starts: July 1, 2023

    The Position

Applications are invited by Redeemer University for a tenure-track position in Business to begin July 2023. Candidates must be aligned with and passionate about Redeemer's Christian mission of integrating faith in teaching and research. Candidates should possess expertise in a range of Business disciplines, especially Marketing. Business is one of the largest academic programs at Redeemer and has had large incoming classes in recent years. Our graduates have the benefits of a liberal arts and sciences core, a broad foundation in business, and then specialize in Accounting, Marketing, Management, or Not-for-Profit Management.

    Responsibilities

This position carries a teaching load of 6 to 7 courses per year (65% of the position's responsibilities), with a focus on Management and Marketing. Expertise in other areas of Business, such as Operations Management, International Business, Not-for-Profit Management or Social Enterprise is an asset. In addition, 25% of the position is dedicated to academic research, professional writing (e.g., writing Ivey cases) and/or professional consulting; and 10% of time is devoted to service to the School of Business, University, and wider community. Flexibility exists to vary this breakdown of responsibilities and could include remaining active in industry instead of doing research. Due to two projected retirements within the School of Business over the next few years, we are looking for someone with leadership qualities and administrative gifts who welcomes a challenge.

    Preferred Skills and Attributes

    • The preferred candidate would possess a Ph.D. or D.B.A. along with professional and teaching experience.
    • Candidates with an M.B.A. plus significant industry experience, professional certifications, and teaching experience will also be considered.
    • As a liberal arts and sciences undergraduate university rooted in the Reformed tradition of Christianity, we seek candidates who are committed to teaching and pursuing scholarship within this framework.

    Other Requirements

    • Understanding of and commitment to Redeemer University (mission, values, and Reformed Christian identity) and ability to articulate its mission effectively and persuasively
    • Participation in communal activities that supports and encourage a university campus environment where the holistic development of all persons embodies Christian principles that advance the mission and Christian character of Redeemer University

Salary is dependent upon experience and qualifications. Redeemer offers an excellent benefits package, including a pension plan, insurance, and medical/dental coverage. Vacation is generous, starting at four weeks. The rewards of mentoring young people are priceless!

    The Application Process

Interested applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching quality, and three letters of references. In addition to these materials, applicants must include a one- to two-page statement describing their own Christian faith commitment, its alignment with Redeemer's mission, and its impact on their academic and professional work. Deadline for applications is October 17, 2022 or until the position is filled.

Redeemer University offers equal employment opportunities to qualified applicants. In accordance with Canadian Immigration requirements, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be considered first for this position.

Tenure track faculty position in Accounting

    Full-time  • Open until October 17, 2022 • Starts: July 1, 2023

    The Position

Redeemer is looking for a full-time Accounting Professor to join its faculty in the School of Business. Business is one of the largest academic programs at Redeemer and has had large incoming classes in recent years. Our graduates have the benefits of a liberal arts and sciences core, a broad foundation in business, and then specialize in Accounting, Marketing, Management, or Not-for-Profit Management. Most students in the Accounting concentration opt for the Co-op Program, which involves two eight-month work placements. Our Co-op Program is accredited by both CPA Ontario and CEWIL Canada.

Students who graduate from Redeemer's Accounting concentration have a superb track record for success in the CPA program and its predecessor designations. We typically have more demand for accounting graduates than we can fill. The successful applicant will share responsibility for maintaining those high standards and ensuring that Redeemer's BBA in Accounting keeps pace with changes in accounting standards and technology.

    Responsibilities

This position carries a teaching load of 6 to 7 courses per year (65% of the position's responsibilities), with a focus on Accounting (Financial and Managerial), Taxation and/or Auditing. Due to two projected retirements within the School of Business over the next few years, we are looking for someone with leadership qualities and administrative gifts who welcomes a challenge.

    Preferred Skills and Attributes

This would be an ideal career transition for a professional accountant with experience in public practice and/or industry who is passionate about training the next generation of accountants and business people. Applicants should possess a CPA designation and significant experience. Preference would be extended to applicants who also possess a MAcc or MBA or who would like to pursue a DBA or PhD, and those with teaching experience.
