Hello!
We warmly invite you to a PDW at #AOM2026, "Closing Loops, Engaging Communities: Circularity, Social Issues, and Scholarly Networks."
Date: Sunday, August 1, 2026
Time: 9:45 to 11:15 a.m. ET
Location: Loews Philadelphia, Congress B
This session brings together scholars interested in the societal implications of the circular economy. While circularity is often discussed through materials, technologies, and business models, this PDW asks: what about communities, labor, justice, inclusion, place, and power?
The session will include a panel featuring case studies from across the globe, followed by a roundtable discussion where we will collectively identify key themes, research gaps, challenges, and promising future directions. Our aim is not only to synthesize the current debate but also to build a scholarly community around the social issues of organizing for circularity.
Case study panelists:
Georgina Adebisi, Illinois Tech, USA
Limin Fu, Monash University, Australia
Sarah Walker, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK
Nicole Darnall, American University, USA
Kris Hartley, Arizona State University, USA
