Thanks much for sharing this paper with all SIMians, Jim. I think its topic fits well with our motto, "Society is our Business." Should you wish to open a discussion about this paper (or anything else SIMian), I certainly encourage you to do so via our social media outlets. Subject: [SIM] You might be interested in this
Hi all
I am caught on the horns of a dilemma. Should I share a new paper with you or keep it to myself? On the one hand, I do not want to clog your inbox with needless "stuff." If the paper is any good, you will find it eventually. You sure don't need me to press it into your busy hands. On the other hand, Tom Donaldson and I just spent a couple of years thinking about something that really might interest some of you. We believe that "we" have been asking too much of the theory of the firm. To apply a theory of the firm to a world that needs a theory of business is to commit a composition fallacy. Long story short, we tried to open a conversation about a theory of business. We would love to have others join the conversation.
Since we arranged for open access publication, I thought I might just as well share the paper with you. The paper is now free to the world. If you are interested, give it a read. If you think someone else might be interested, pass it along. And if you want to advance our thinking, by all means, come join the fun. And of course, if you are uninterested, just delete this message!
