Anticipated Faculty position in Nonprofit Management (Tenure-Track)
The New School seeks a full-time faculty member in the area of nonprofit
(NPM) or non-governmental (NGO) management, with emphasis on
organizations in the U.S. and/or global settings. Specific area of
research is open, but preference is for someone who studies diversity,
leadership, strategy, change, or globalization in the
nonprofit/voluntary/ngo sector. Subsector emphasis for this position is
open, but understanding of organizations in one of our growth areas
would be a plus: arts and culture, sustainability, advocacy, and
leadership and change. The position will be housed at Milano the New
School for Management and Urban Policy. This position is dependent on
final budget approval from the Office of the Provost.
The successful candidate will play a key role in furthering our group’s
NPM/NGO research agenda and delivering courses in our growing MS program
in nonprofit management. The graduate program in nonprofit management at
The New School was one of the first programs offered in the U.S., and
remains a leading program worldwide. We offer specializations in global
management and policy, sustainability, social entrepreneurship, arts
management and cultural policy, leadership and change, advocacy, and
community development finance. Participation in our doctoral program in
public and urban policy, as well as in undergraduate programs, is also
likely.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field (or ABD with completion
expected before start date of September 1, 2010). The applicant’s record
of research and scholarship should merit consideration for a
tenure-track position. This position is anticipated at the rank of
Assistant Professor; senior candidates with outstanding records,
accomplishments, and reputations may also be considered.
We will be conducting informal meetings at the Academy of Management
meeting in Chicago and the American Sociological Association meeting in
San Francisco in August. Candidates attending these conferences should
email a statement of interest and c.v. to Andrea Kelsey at
kelseya@newschool.edu. Please indicate in your subject line the
conference at which you will be available and the words NPM position.
Full applications require a cover letter, c.v., teaching evaluations,
and the names and contact information for at least three references from
whom the committee may solicit letters, directed to the attention of
Andrea Kelsey at
kelseya@newschool.edu. Applications will be reviewed as
received, and until the position is filled, but those arriving by
October 15 will receive priority.
