To all SIMians – Just received this message and wanted to forward it along to you.

    Dear GWSB Community,

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the sudden loss of long-time GWSB faculty member D. Jeffrey Lenn, professor emeritus of strategic management & public policy, who passed away yesterday due to complications following heart surgery.

In addition to his years on the GWSB faculty, Jeff served as a consultant to numerous corporations, trade associations, non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies. Jeff was a popular professor, well liked by his colleagues and his students. In the 2015-16 academic year, he was honored as Instructor of the Year in the Executive MBA program.

Details about a memorial service will be provided in the coming days. I will be sure to share information about services with you as soon as it becomes available.

    He will be missed.

    Sincerely,

    Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D.

    Jim and All:

This is indeed very sad news.  But I do have two fond memories of Jeff to share.   I last saw Jeff in January of this year at the shared Virginia Tech/UVA Northern Virginia campus in Falls Church, VA.   Jeff served as a guest speaker in a panel discussion (along with Phil Cochran-via WebEx--and an ethics officer at Lockheed Martin who happened to be a former student of Jim Weber).  Jeff was at the top of his game that night and the students loved him (as well as the other panelists).  We also got to have a nice relaxing dinner and conversation prior to the panel discussion.

In addition, we had a very nice visit at the last IABS meeting in Park City.  Jeff had arrived late in the evening, well after dinner the first night (I think) of the conference.  He was hungry but he did not want to go into town to a restaurant so he bought himself some cheese, crackers and a bottle of wine in the snack bar.  He invited me to help him finish them and we had a grand time doing so reminiscing about old times.

I am very glad we had these visits and they will be great memories of Jeff to hold onto.

    Regards, Rich
