Trust leading to collaboration - ???

Dear friends and colleagues – I am working with a graduate student on a project where she will be investigating the role trust plays in the collaborative partnerships among non-profit organizations.  She has a truly interesting sample set available to her.

We are experiencing some difficulty in being able to clearly define "trust" and then operationalize trust as an influence in collaboration or the lack thereof.

Any ideas?  Articles? Books? (She is reading Fukuyama's book entitled Trust.)  Any assistance would be appreciated and it does not have to be about non-profit organizations specifically.

Please email me directly at weberj@duq.edu.  Thank you, in advance.
