    I'm writing to inform you of the posting of the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs & Executive Education position at Duquesne University.  This is a most exciting opportunity for someone who has strategic insights about graduate programs and executive education initiatives and is attracted by the prospect of creating and leading distinctive programs.

    Associate Dean for Graduate Programs & Executive Education

    Palumbo-Donahue School of Business

     

    The Palumbo-Donahue School of Business of Duquesne University of the Holy Spirit (DU) has identified opportunities to grow our graduate degree and executive education offerings (improving existing programs, integrating programs taught elsewhere on campus and launching new program initiatives).  The Associate Dean for Graduate Programs & Executive Education (ADGPEX) will play a leading role in seizing these opportunities.  We seek an experienced leader who will report to the Dean of the School, engage our faculty, serve on the School's Leadership Team, and oversee everything we do in graduate degree and executive education programming.  The School's current efforts are supported by our Graduate Office staff, including the Director of Graduate Programs, who will report to the ADGPEX.  The ADGPEX is a 12- month position.  It comes with a 4-year term (reappointment is possible--administrators serve at the pleasure of the Dean), a 1-1 teaching load per academic year, an annual stipend, and support from a half-time administrative assistant.  Major responsibilities of the ADGPEX are below (this is not intended to be an exhaustive list).

     

    Key leadership and strategic responsibilities

     

    ·       Ensure graduate office staff work in a collaborative environment with clear roles, cross-training to provide overlapping support, and well-defined performance goals

    ·       Develop opportunities for new graduate and executive education programs as well as improvements in existing programs

    ·       Evaluate trends and competitors' graduate/executive education programs

    ·       Create faculty and business engagement for program initiatives and improvements

     

    Key managerial and operational responsibilities

     

    ·       Attend relevant curriculum, advisory council, School, and University meetings

    ·       Make recommendations for marketing graduate and executive education programs

    ·       Establish program enrollment and growth goals; ensure that all programs have  excellent recruiting, admissions, placement, and student services

    ·       Develop/maintain knowledge of AACSB standards and AOL issues

    ·       Provide outstanding stewardship of graduate office and graduate program resources

     

    Required Attributes

     

    ·       Earned Ph.D. in a business or related discipline

    ·       Prior experience as an Associate Dean or Program Director with responsibility for graduate degree or executive education programs in a business school

    ·       Prior direct experience with AOL assessment and AACSB accreditation processes

    ·       A record sufficient to earn professor or associate professor rank with tenure at DU

     

    Preferred attributes

     

    ·       Prior teaching experience in online and/or hybrid business programs

    ·       Impeccable integrity; excellent communication, listening, and follow-through skills

    ·       Highly organized, excels at multi-tasking and interacting with diverse constituencies

    ·       Possesses strategic insight and thinks beyond disciplinary boundaries
