In this workshop, we will examine a number of different perspectives or
representations of the multinational firm.
The workshop will present current debates and diverse perspectives on 1.
the evolution of the multinational 2. the organization of the
multinational 3. the impact and effects of the multinational
By looking at the multinational using different images or perspectives
the workshop will seek to deconstruct some of the simplistic stereotypes
of the multinational, and present insights into the multiple metaphors
and plurality of images that can be used to understand the multinational
and inform the practice of stakeholders.
This PDW highlights the plurality of perspectives and images of the
multinational that have emerged in recent years and their contributions
to raising awareness of the role and impact of the multinational in
society and amongst communities.
The value of such an approach in a teaching context for International
Management classes will be discussed.
Key words: multinationals, teaching, research
