Dear Dale,
I have designed a module for 3rd years BSc students in a course where a
term paper was the focus. The students have a background in economics
and business and usually no clue about CSR.
I use one of the Wood papers (see below for references) to get them
started on the topic, and the Friedman newspaper entry to give them the
classical economists' view. I proceed with stakeholder theory, using
e.g. Clarkson or Jawahar/McLaughlin. I tend to give an example of what
this looks like, using either the insightful Waddock/Graves paper or
-when I want to give myself a break- my own paper. Finally, as
meta-analysis is not part of the statistics curriculum over here, I tend
to present Wood/Jones, Orlitzky et al., and Margolis/Walsh, but more as
a source of additional literature then as a key contribution. I guess
the extent to which you can use the meta-analyses depends on the level
of the students, though a review like Wood/Jones is very accessible.
I would be interested to learn what others have to say. Maybe you can
compile a list based on the replies you have obtained?
Thanks,
Gerwin
