JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (TENURE TRACK) IN BUSINESS-SOCIETY MANAGEMENT, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University
Applications are invited for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the broad domain of business and society management. We are looking for candidates whose work is strongly rooted in organization and management theory but geared towards addressing important business and society topics. To be considered for the tenure-track position, candidates should have a doctorate degree or be in their final year of dissertation research and should be able to demonstrate the potential to build a record of excellence in both research and teaching.
The Business-Society Management department was established over twenty years ago as one of the first business and society departments in a leading European Business School and ranks among the best in Europe in terms of research productivity and societal impact. Faculty members have recently published in top tier journals, such as the Academy of Management Review, the Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Management, Organization Science, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Organization Studies. Our faculty is also actively involved in the academic leadership of scholarly associations (such as IABS, AOM and SAMS) and serves on editorial teams and boards of leading journals in the field. The department offers its own master program on Sustainability and Global Business, and contributes to all undergraduate, MBA, EMBA, MPhil and PhD programs at the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), Erasmus University.
Current full-time faculty of the Business-Society department includes Joep Cornelissen, Muel Kaptein, Lucas Meijs, Marius Van Dijke, Rob Van Tulder, Dianne Bevelander, Ben Wempe, Guido Berens, Steve Kennedy, Samer Abdelnour, Salla Laasonen, Mirjam Werner, Emilio Marti, Corinna Frey, and Helen Gubby. The department further greatly benefits from a visiting faculty scheme.
The research of the department is multi-disciplinary in nature, using a diverse set of theories and methods to study current topics concerning ethical, social and sustainable forms of management and organization. Some of the department's research and outreach activities are channeled through dedicated research centers on partnerships (PRC), women in leadership (ECWO), behavioral ethics (ECBE), corporate communication (CCC), and sustainability management (ECCET). There is however no expectation that applicants align their research and teaching with any of these centers; we are simply interested in recruiting the best candidates with a strong grounding in organizational and/or management theory (OMT) through their PhD and whose research is in the business and society domain, broadly defined.
