| As we negotiate and craft our careers in an era of economic uncertainty, environmental crisis, and societal upheaval with concomitant individual, organizational, and global implications, there is heightened imperative for generating meaning and beneficial impact with our work. The goal of this workshop is to amplify the meaning we experience and impart by reflecting on and exploring how to cultivate well-being and catalyze thriving in our work as scholars and management professionals. Bridging and building on perspectives of Humanistic Management (c.f., Pirson, Steinvorth, Largacha-Martinez, Dierksmeier & Mulryne, 2014) and Positive Organizational Scholarship (c.f., Cameron, Dutton & Quinn, 2003), this workshop includes panelists and facilitators with diverse and innovative insights to prompt shared reflection as well as conceptual, pedagogical, and pragmatic breakthroughs that advance meaningful work in and of organizations. The workshop begins with introductory remarks and a brief panel discussion by Emily Heaphy, Katrin Muff and Claus Dierksmeier, who will synthesizes different points of view and frame possible trajectories of meaningfulness in organizing. Following the interactive panel, participants will spend the majority of the workshop rotating through facilitated breakout sessions designed for generating ideas and exploring opportunities to create positive impact in our work settings and among the audiences and organizations we interact with through research, teaching, service, administration, consulting, and other endeavors. Building on pillars of dignity, well-being, and thriving, participants will co-create new visions for organizing to privilege personal and collective meaning, identify actionable steps for implementing these visions, and inspire each other to amplify positive impact in our own work and among audiences we engage with. |
