    Philadelphia, PA

Assistant Professor in Management Organizational Behavior/Human Resources/Social Issues in Management

    Position Description

The Department of Management in the Erivan K. Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph's University invites applications for one (1) tenure-track position at the Assistant level in Organizational Behavior/Human Resources/Social Issues in Management.  Special consideration will be given to those candidates whose interest in Organizational Behavior/Human Resources/Social Issues in Management is within a family business/social entrepreneurship context. The position will be effective August 2012.

Saint Joseph's University enrollment is approximately 8,000 students in all programs.  The Haub School of Business is AACSB accredited.  U.S. News and World Report ranked the Haub School of Business 70th in the nation for part-time graduate business education.  They also ranked the Executive MBA program 20th in the nation and 4 disciplines (including Management) in the Top 25.  In Business Week's Best Undergraduate Business Schools, Haub ranks 80 overall, with an A+ for teaching and A for job placement.  We received the Gold Chapter Award for Beta Gamma Sigma and ranked as one of the Top 100 business schools in the world by the Aspen Institute's 2009-2010 edition of Beyond Grey Pinstripes, a biennial survey of business schools.

It is a particularly exciting time within the department of management.  The management department is embarking on launching three new majors: Leadership, Ethics, and Sustainable Organizations; Managing Human Capital; and Family Business and Entrepreneurship.  Closely tied to the Jesuit Mission of the university, the core interest of these three majors is study of socially, as well as economically sustainable, organizations.

Candidates should have teaching and research interests primarily in organizational behavior/human resources, as well as social issues in management.  Special consideration will be given to those that have secondary interests in family business/social entrepreneurship.  We may consider ABD candidates who are within six months of graduation, but only those that demonstrate strong research potential.  Experience in online education and interest in curricular development are plusses.  Excellent teaching skills are essential: the successful applicant will teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with opportunities to teach in the Executive Programs.  Normal course load is 3/3 (the equivalent of 18 credits per academic year).  Average class size at SJU is 28.  Applicants must show a proven research record.
