After the grand success of our PDW session titled, "Teaching Sustainable Strategies to Managers: Science, Practice and Philosophy" at AOM 2015 at Vancouver,  we are back with the next version of our PDW on Teaching Sustainability to Managers 2.0.

Finding effective pedagogies for teaching sustainability has always been a challenge due to the highly interdisciplinary nature of the subject. Moreover, there is a visible ideological divide even among MBA students and managers when debating issues around sustainability. At the same time, it is important for management educators to find new pedagogies that help students develop skills and attitudes for designing organizations and business strategies that promote economic development without sacrificing future generation's ability to meet their needs. This sustainability agenda has generated genuine interest in educating business students and practicing managers in developing sustainable business strategies including new organizational forms such as hybrid and social entrepreneurial enterprises. In this PDW we demonstrate the use of reframing as a pedagogical tool to teach sustainability to MBA students and practicing managers. There are two major pedagogical challenges involved in teaching sustainability: 1. Ideological nature of sustainability debate and 2. Highly interdisciplinary nature of the subject. We address both of these pedagogical challenges by introducing an actionable reframing framework as a tool to address, analyze and find solutions to challenges related to sustainability. This reframing framework consists of five components, namely, stakeholders, resources, history, outcomes and ideology. Through this approach, students will be trained to reframe sustainability related issues in such a way that meaningful solutions could be found within the given constraints.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

    Best regards,
