Launched in the beginning of 2014, New Global is a path-breaking research and innovation project that seeks to develop new methods for doing research in contexts of extreme resource scarcity, in ways that both contribute to new scientific knowledge and help to make a societal impact through initiation of frugal innovations particularly in the areas of water, energy and housing solutions. The project also includes collaboration with business enterprises, non-governmental organizations, and local communities in emerging markets. The project offers a unique research setting for scholars keen on advancing scientifically rigorous research strongly connected to practice.
We offer a three-year post-doctoral fellowship for a scientist who will help lead the frugal innovation research in the context of the New Global project, preferably from the perspective of developing frugal solution business models. The fellow will join a research team which includes professors, post-docs and doctoral students from the above mentioned disciplines. The fellow will be positioned in Corporate Sustainability (https://wiki.aalto.fi/display/CESRR) research group, which is in the Department of Management Studies of Aalto University Business School.

Methodologically the project emphasizes action research and the candidate preferably has experience of or willingness to learn about action research approach.
