    PDW: Research on Stigmatization: Understanding Stigma across Audiences, Categories and Levels

     We are excited to announce our new Professional Development Workshop: Research on Stigmatization: Understanding Stigma across Audiences, Categories and Levels.

    The processes, categories, causes and consequences of stigma have received significant attention in recent literature. This PDW is aimed at developing a better definition and understanding of stigma and the role that it plays in influencing and even defining identities, organizations, professions and fields. We seek to explain how the existing research has informed our current understanding of stigma within the field of management and identify opportunities for future research.

    The PDW is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Aug 6 2016 from 8:00 - 9:30AM, in Platinum Ballroom 10 of the Anaheim Marriott and consists of three parts:

    (1) an introduction, including a brief overview of the current state of research from Bryant Hudson;

    (2) four thematic round tables (see details below);

    (3) a panel discussion.

    Participants are asked to pre-register for the PDW and are asked to identify one thematic round table they would like to join when they email for the approval code. If you are interested, please send an email to one of the organizers, Karen Patterson (patterson@unm.edu), Wesley Helms (whelms@brocku.ca) or Evelyn Micelotta (emicelotta@unm.edu), to receive the registration code. The number of participants at each table is limited, so apply early! We will try to accommodate your request on a first-come, first-served basis.
