Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to the following AOM symposium on the "Value Creation and Appropriation by Firms and Stakeholders" co-sponsored by the BPS and the SIM Divisions:
| Session Type: Symposium Program Session: 1817 | Submission: 11198 | Sponsor(s): (BPS, SIM) Scheduled: Tuesday, Aug 8 2017 11:30AM - 1:00PM at Hyatt Regency Atlanta in Regency Ballroom V | | | | Value Creation and Appropriation by Firms and Stakeholders Value Creation and Capture | | | | |
| Organizer: Nan Jia, U. of Southern California |
| Value creation and appropriation are core concepts in strategic management because the two processes critically shape the financial performance of firms and the economic returns to key stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, customers, financiers (including shareholders, bondholders, debtholders), and communities. The four papers included in this symposium all aim to develop new understanding of this topic, albeit using different approaches. Some papers aim to provide structured and unifying theoretical frameworks to analyze general theoretical issues, while other papers examine how those core theoretical issues manifest in various empirical contexts in order to empirically test the theories and demonstrate their relevance to a wide range of managerial practices. Collectively, the collection of the papers and the interaction among the authors, presenters, and the audience will greatly contribute to the frontier of this line of research. |
