Dear friends, I am forwarding this as it is primarily sponsored by the Diversity & Inclusion Theme and I don't want you to overlook it when you are putting together your diary for AOM. Do please join us; it could hardly be a better time to talk about ethics and diversity.  Best wishes, Laura

SESSION #161 MAKING DIVERSITY & INCLUSION MEANINGFUL: MOVING FROM DE JURE CODES TO DE FACTO PRACTICE

Sponsored by the Diversity & Inclusion Theme Committee, Critical Management Studies, Gender & Diversity in Organizations, Social Issues in Management, Friday August 5, 4.15-6.15pm, Sheraton Palm Hotel, Palm East. All welcome!

Organisers: Scott Taylor (CMS Co-Chair) and Laura Spence (SIM, Rep-at-Large)

A couple of questions for you:

    1. Is there an Academy of Management Code of Conduct? Answer: Yes, take a look here.

    2. Who does it apply to? Answer: You, if you are a member of AOM.

    3. Is the Code always applied in practice??  If not what practical steps can we take to close that gap?

Notwithstanding all the normal criticisms of codes of conduct, the last of these questions is the focus of our interactive, interdisciplinary, international workshop. Please join us for an engaged workshop when we will share experiences and perspectives and try to identify a range of useful approaches to move from de jure codes to de facto practice in the Academy of Management.
