Hi everyone,
This is a reminder that the deadline for submitting your proposal for a SIM professional development workshop at the Academy meeting in Philadelphia is less than a month away. The PDWs are held in the preconference, which provides an opportunity for innovative programs that do not fit the traditional conference format. This is a chance to address new questions in new ways and to bring together new groups of people. The Philadelphia setting fprovides its own unique set of possibilities.
Proposals are due on November 13 but they are accepted on a rolling basis so please submit as soon as you are ready.
I'll be happy to answer any questions you have. The announcement for submissions follows.

The Social Issues in Management (SIM) division is seeking creative proposals for the PDW sessions at the 2007 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. The theme of the conference, "Doing Well by Doing Good," provides an excellent opportunity to expand the boundaries of SIM and promote communication and collaboration with colleagues doing SIM-oriented research in other specialty areas. We especially encourage submissions that::
ü involve colleagues from other divisions,
ü are jointly sponsored by two or more AOM divisions,
ü highlight specific areas of interest (e.g., stakeholders, corporate social performance, corporate governance, ethics, business/government relations), and
ü relate to the conference theme
The PDW is an opportunity to try new ideas that won't fit into the traditional conference format. One recent example of an innovative and successful PDW was the Behavioral Ethics Research Incubator that brought participants from multiple divisions together to discuss research ideas and begin to develop joint projects. Other successful PDW sessions have made use of conference locales. This conference will be held in Philadelphia; the "City of Brotherly Love" provides a wealth of issues to address and opportunities to explore. Please be creative – new ideas are particularly welcome.
The submission deadline in November 13, 2006 – but earlier submissions are encouraged because parts of the program may be filled on a rolling basis. To submit a PDW proposal, please use the submission form on the SIM division website, http://sim.aomonline.org/2007PDWproposal.doc. Then email your completed form as an attachment to Ann Buchholtz at abuchholtz@terry.uga.edu by November 13, 2006. Please contact Ann Buchholtz if you have any questions or would like to discuss possible proposals.
