Consciousness and Responsibility: The Inextricable Connection in Business
Saturday, Aug 13 2011 3:00PM - 5:30PM at Marriott Rivercenter in Salon A(Sponsored by SIM and MSR)
In Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and North America, a few dozen businesses including DuPont, Kingsford Charcoal, Colgate Palmolive, and Intel have been working with practices for developing capability for the conscious management of mental energies for over five decades. They have drawn on spiritual practices well known in the Eastern hemispheres and applied them in their own business settings to create extraordinary business results. This workshop tells their story, provides an experience of how the process works, and gives attendees the opportunity to reflect on how this might apply in their corporate or educational setting. Will Lynn, former President of Kingsford Charcoal who led the business pursuit of the consciousness developing processes, will share his experience of this process. Carol Sanford, author of The Responsible Business (Jossey-Bass) led the consulting and education processes that translated Eastern and other cultural practices into business practices and will re-create a mini-version of the experience during this workshop. By seeing business transformation from the perspective of both a senior executive and a consultant, participants can better appreciate the nature and power of these learning practices. Chaired by Kathryn Goldman Schuyler.
Apologies for cross-posting: want all in both SIM and MSR who may be interested to know about this session. We have so few executives co-leading PDWs! This will be a highly experiential session.
