SOLIDARITY and SIM

Greetings. Perhaps you will find the following SIM resource useful.
_Ephemera_, an on-line refereed journal of organizational theory and politics, has
published a special issue introducing solidarity as an organizing
    principle for SIM at:

    http://www.ephemeraweb.org/journal/index.htm

Solidarity implies a correspondence of identity and patterns of
reciprocity, bounded and considered, but susceptible to expansion.
Public or private behaviors that limit harm and are sustained over
time have solidarity at their core. In a world of many dangers and
much insecurity, solidaristic institutions extend freedom rather than
constrain it. The articles in this issue of _Ephemera_ provide examples
of solidaristic institutions. Case studies are provided by Charles
Whalen, Latha Poonamallee, Richard Marens, and John Luhman.

Needless to say, the academic analog of solidarity is collegiality.
It is evident when college administrators treat faculty as ends in
themselves rather than as means to the fulfillment of some strategic
    plan.

    Best wishes to all.
