1st Annual PhD Sustainability Academy – Call for Submissions

26 – 30 September 2008, Richard Ivey School of Business, London Canada

"The things we have to learn before we do them, we learn by doing them." (Aristotle)

The PhD Sustainability Academy will bring together doctoral students from across Canada and all over the world who are interested in exploring leading thought and practice of sustainability in business and non-profit organizations.

This year's theme is "Water & Wine." We will help craft learning experiences around these and other sustainability issues more broadly by bringing together young researchers with diverse interests with business leaders involved in the practice of sustainability, and experienced academic facilitators with world-leading contributions to the thinking and practice of sustainable management (Andy Hoffman, Dirk Matten, Christian Seelos and Ivey faculty: Tima Bansal, Oana Branzei, Gerard Seijts, Paul Beamish and Eric Morse). The facilitation approach builds on the creed, "You teach some by what you say, teach more by what you do, but most of all, you teach most by who you are."

We are now looking for fifteen young scholars and would be pleased to receive applications from promising doctoral students. All on-the-ground program costs (e.g., accommodation, meals, local transportation, activities, etc.) will be covered.

Doctoral Students Invited to Apply by July 15th, 2008

To preview the agenda, and obtain additional details on the submission process, and the faculty and business leaders involved in this years' academy, please see the attached poster or visit our website, http://www.ivey.uwo.ca/centres/building/outreach/PhDAcademy

Acceptances and invitations will be sent out by July 31th, 2008. All invited participants will be asked to submit full working manuscripts no later than August 31st, 2008.

    Warmest regards,
