ABOUT THIS ISSUE
Corporate citizenship protagonists - whether academics or practitioners
- are increasingly being challenged with regard to the relevance of
corporate citizenship as a driver for global change. This special
edition of The Journal of Corporate Citizenship directly addresses this
challenge, focused on the theme ‘Is corporate citizenship making a
difference’?
This key question has particular relevance in Africa, where special
efforts will be required to meet the Millennium Development Goals. The
papers deal with practical issues such as the livelihood impacts of
codes of practice on workers and how one measures the impact of
corporate citizenship at the local level in zones of conflict. The
edition also deals with pertinent and arguably controversial issues
such as ‘capitalism with a human face’ and ‘testing the limits of
inclusive capitalism’.
