Call for Papers:
A Multi-disciplinary Conference on Fraud and Misconduct
Claremont Hotel, Berkeley, California
24-25 October 2013
Fraud and firm misconduct have been the subject of increased public, media and academic attention over the past decade, leading to a sense of the pervasiveness of misconduct in corporate life. Scholarly attention has progressed separately along disciplinary lines, with relatively little interaction across disciplines. Consequently, scholars tackling these issues have yet to reach consensus on a definition of misconduct, preferred research methodologies, levels of analyses, or critical theoretical lenses with which to analyze misconduct. Furthermore, the independent research streams have yet to be integrated into a broader body of knowledge.
In an effort to collaborate, synthesize, and encourage research attention to these important topics, this conference aims to bring together scholars from the fields of organizational behavior, finance, accounting, economics, sociology and law. The intent of the conference is to disseminate ideas, to encourage interdisciplinary communication and collaboration, and to motivate research regarding fraud and misconduct in support of a more comprehensive and developed theoretical paradigm.
The proposed conference will comprise one and a half days of presentations of current research by scholars in each field. Papers will be organized into multi-disciplinary thematic panels, consisting of a presentation followed by discussant commentary and general discussion. Keynote talks spanning academic disciplines are also planned.
Proposed schedule:
