    Call for Contributions

It is increasingly recognised that research and education on the topic of corporate responsibility spans boundaries. These boundaries include those between disciplines, between conventional notions of fundamental and applied research and between academics and practitioners. Some business schools and universities have developed pioneering ways to address and overcome these boundaries. Collecting and disseminating examples of these experiences is seen as critical to strengthen work in <st1:place>Europe</st1:place> in the field of corporate responsibility.

Participation and presentations are therefore sought from those with experience of these boundary-spanning approaches.  We therefore call for cases or examples, which show how to address and overcome the key issues of:

    • Internal barriers within and between business schools and/or universities to developing research (and teaching) across disciplines
    • Leading directions of calls for further research beyond business needs to societal imperatives
    • Crossing the boundaries between researchers and practitioners

    The CSR Platform Project

The CSR Platform is an exciting three year research project supported by the European Commission that – with the input of leading academics and other stakeholders – will build the foundations for a European Research Area on Corporate Responsibility. The Project aims to:

    • Build European capacity on corporate responsibility research by academic cooperation, between, within and across disciplines, generations, geographical areas
    • Bring academics, business, policy-makers, civil society actors and others together to collaboratively shape research and improve dissemination
    • Structure access to knowledge by building and maintaining effective and accessible dissemination channels

    How To Contribute and Attend

If you also want to be involved and wish to contribute you are invited to send a proposal of an area you wish to address (preferably using the application template). This document should include the initiative adopted, reasons for its development, challenges overcome, obstacles encountered and types of success and output. These documents will be used to select a limited number of attendees.

Contributions are to be sent to Dr. <st1:personname>Lance Moir</st1:personname> at Cranfield School of Management (l.moir@cranfield.ac.uk) by <st1:date month="12" day="11" year="2006">11 December 2006</st1:date>.
