PhD position in corporate social responsibility/sustainability
    full time
    job reference number 07-5000

The aim of this project is to explore the drivers and impacts of ‘social alliances’ (or ‘sustainability partnerships’) between international firms and non-governmental organizations. Although this phenomenon has received considerable attention, research that systematically investigates both internal and external drivers and implications, also covering employee and customer satisfaction, has been scarce. The research will be conducted in a field setting, combining multiple methods of investigation, which calls for skills in research liaison with host organizations and good external presentation skills. As the project will be located at the intersection of the fields of management and marketing, candidates from both backgrounds are invited to apply, although familiarity with the marketing discipline is preferred.

    Requirements
    • Master’s (MA, MSc or drs) in the area of business (marketing, management, business administration, business economics)
    • Interest (and preferably experience) in field research, including conducting studies based within larger organizations
    • Mastery of both written and spoken English.

Applicants who require further information should contact Dr. van Dolen (email  W.M.vanDolen@uva.nl; tel. 31 20 525 4204). Candidates who are interested more broadly in pursuing a PhD in the area of international business and corporate social responsibility / sustainability, either as part of a formal appointment or otherwise, may also get in touch.
