    Wednesday 11th December

    6.00pm – 7.30pm followed by Reception

Room B52, Nottingham University Business School, South Building, Jubilee Campus, Nottingham

The International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility is delighted to invite you to its Christmas lecture:

Tax is for life, not just for Christmas?
Richard Murphy – Director of Tax Research UK

Tax has been in the news and companies are beginning to notice the public demand for accountability on tax. But just as dogs aren't just for Christmas nor can tax transparency be solved by a neat tax policy note in the annual accounts. Being responsible when it comes to tax takes real commitment to social responsibility all year round and few companies have demonstrated that as yet.

Richard Murphy (56) is a UK chartered accountant. After a career in practice and commerce he became one of the founders of the Tax Justice Network in 2002. He now directs Tax Research UK and writes, broadcasts and blogs extensively, the latter at http://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/.  He is joint author of 'Tax Havens, The True Story of Globalisation', Cornell University Press 2010 and sole author of 'The Courageous State', Searching Finance, 2011 and 'Over here and under taxed: the story of Google, Amazon and Starbucks', Vintage Books, February 2013. In 2012 the Association of International Accountants gave Richard their award for an outstanding contribution to the accountancy profession.
