As the title, Teaching Management in These Troubling Economic Times implies, the question is how should we be adapting the content of our management courses? What is foremost on students' minds? What topics (or processes) would be most helpful and useful to them as their family, friends and neighbors face layoffs, declining home values, or even inability to continue school and pay tuition?
Bring your issues, questions, and concerns to this live conversation with Professor Roy Lewicki, a leading scholar in the study of trust development, negotiation and conflict management processes. He is the author or editor of over 32 books, including the leading academic textbooks on negotiation. His most recent book is Mastering Business Negotiations with Alex Hiam. Another recent book, Making Sense of Intractable Environmental Conflicts, won the Best Book Award from the International Association of Conflict Management. Lewicki is founding editor of Academy of Management Learning and Education and has served as associate editor of the Academy of Management Executive. Companies such as Nestle, DTE, Sterling Commerce, Limited Stores, American Electronic Power, Siemens, The Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital and The Ohio State Medical Center have utilized Lewicki's executive education services on conflict management, negotiation skills and leadership development. From this unique vantage point, Roy can help us as management educators "separate wheat from the chaff" as we witness and interpret earthshaking shifts in lives and livelihoods.
The OBTS Teaching Society for Management Educators Webinar Series connects prominent management scholars with colleagues in a technology-mediated format that can serve many purposes. Not only will we learn more about these scholars' work and have the opportunity to discuss issues, we also may make new connections among our colleagues that can lead to future study groups, research initiatives and other professional development activities. In planning the series, we thought that not only learning more about what people do would be important but also how they view the challenges for the future. We are very pleased that Roy Lewicki will be working with us. Follow-up small group sessions will be held after this webinar. Continuing conversations continue at OBTC 2009 at The College of Charleston.
We look forward to you joining us on Friday, March 13 at 11:00 a.m. EDT.
And, again, registration is at: http://www.obtc.org/webinars.
