Hi folks. We all know that there are many empirical studies of the relationship between CSR and CFP. But I'm hard pressed to come up with empirical studies of:
1) The effect of a firm's accident/misconduct/error on its reputation; or
2) The effect of a firm's reputation on how stakeholders interpret or respond to its accident/misconduct/error.
There are studies of how a firm's error affects CFP, but not reputation, apart from one that I could find – Zyglidopoulos, 2001 in B&S. Might you be aware of others?
I'm mostly interested in the second relationship – how a firm's reputation might serve as a buffer so that it suffers less when it does have an accident. Some of us have theorized about this, but I'm wondering if anyone has tested this relationship directly.
I feel like there's a literature out there somewhere that I'm missing, probably because I'm too bogged down in the CSR-CFP relationship. Could anyone point me toward empirical studies of either of these relationships?
Thanks,
Mike
