Hi folks. A while back some of the leaders of SIM put forth a proposal to change the division's name to EGS. We had considerable on-line discussion. Some supported the change, while others pointed out a variety of problems, such as the "laundry list" feel of the new name. I questioned the need for change, and suggested that if it was determined that the benefits of a name change were to outweigh the costs, a more fitting name might be Organizations and the Welfare of Society (OWls -- We give a hoot!). Discussion seemed to abruptly end, and then my understanding is that there was a vote at the business meeting in Anaheim. I was unable to attend. Could anyone please advise me -- and the list, since I think the curiosity might extend beyond just me -- how it all played out? I suppose there's a record somewhere, so maybe the answer is just to point us toward it.
Thanks,
Mike
