Alternative to Friedman [and book plug]

    Hi Linda,

I actually have an edited book forthcoming in a month or so, Doing Well AND Good: The Human Face of the New Capitalism (Information Age Publishing), which has a few entries perfect for your assignment. I'm attaching the TOC and book description to whet your appetite(s) until it's available here:

In the meantime, I suggest a recent piece published in Business and Society by Mark Schwartz, which is a slightly more academic version of a chapter he has written for the book:

Unfortunately, it's not as focused on rejecting Friedman as another chapter in the volume by William Shaw entitled "Beyond the Invisible Hand" which would likely be perfect for your assignment. But it does present a unifying alternative, melding all the anti-Friedmanite approaches.

    Best,
    Julian
