    Hi Everyone,

I thought some members of the listserv might be interested in this upcoming
    online web-conference hosted by CasePlace.org (www.CasePlace.org). The
online forum presents a unique opportunity for faculty to discuss and be
introduced to new materials and teaching approaches to governance related
topics. Registration is free. Details follow below. The web-conference will
be of particular interest to faculty of the business law, strategy, and
    finance disciplines.

CasePlace.org invites you to participate in its inaugural
    Corporate Governance & Accountability Web-Conference

    May 25th, 2006
    2:00 pm to 3:30 pm

???Veridian: Putting a Value on Values???
    HBS case # 9-406-028

    featuring

David Langstaff, Founder & Former CEO of Veridian Corporation, and case
protagonist and Dr. Rakesh Khurana, Harvard Business School, case co-author.

Mr. Langstaff and Dr. Khurana will share their thoughts about the relevance
of the newly-polished Veridian case to finance and business law curricula.
Hear Mr. Langstaff speak about his own experience in leading the Veridian
corporation and Dr. Khurana discuss his recent experience previewing the
case with Harvard MBAs and executives and with MBAs at the recently held
J.P. Morgan Chase Shipley Business Leadership Case competition.

The case presents Veridian, a medium-sized defense and intelligence
contractor focused on security and information systems, shortly after it
went public in 2003 and subsequently became an attractive takeover target.
(For more background on the case, see the attached one page document.)

At the heart of the case are compelling questions, such as:

??? What are the fiduciary duties of boards of directors when assessing
    take-over bids?

??? How do business leaders determine the proper valuation for the firm?

??? What are the tensions faced by institutional leaders in managing long and
short-term requirements and contributions of the firm and what can business
leaders do to insure that their organizations, focused on the long term,
    will prosper?

Please RSVP to Alex Roberts, alex.roberts@aspeninst.org, if you would like
to participate in May???s online discussion. Registration is free. All
registrants will receive an email with dial-in information.
