We would like to invite you to our All Academy Theme Panel Symposium at the Academy of Management Conference, Vancouver, 2015:

Title: Opening the Conversation on the Corporate Governance - Corporate Social Responsibility Interface

    Scheduled: Sunday, Aug 9 2015 11:15AM - 12:45PM

Place: Vancouver Convention Centre in Room 212

    - Chair: Ruth V. Aguilera; Professor, Northeastern University, USA
    - Discussant: Dima Jamali; Professor, American University of Beirut, Lebanon

    - Organizer: Tanusree Jain; PhD Candidate, ESADE Business School, Spain

    Speakers:

    - Jeremy Moon; Copenhagen Business School; Denmark

    - Christopher Marquis; Cornell University, USA
    - Ioannis Ioannou; London Business School; UK
    - Jennifer J Griffin; George Washington University, USA

    - Ans Kolk; University of Amsterdam; The Netherlands

This panel will discuss how the fields of Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) have attracted increasing scholarly interest and yet why the nature of their relationship remains confused and contested. These two areas of knowledge and practice are closely inter-related, particularly as firms seek to gain long-term sustainability and competitive advantage. Through this session, we propose to open governance by exploring and incorporating the long term-sustainability agenda integral to CSR. Specifically, this panel will explore the role of business leaders and corporate boards in steering CSR and sustainability in businesses.

In this 90 minute symposium, each speaker will present their research which will be followed by a moderated panel discussion and an interactive question and answer session with the audience. The aim of this symposium is to deliberate on the intersection between the two fields with a view to identify critical areas for research and practice going forward.

We hope you can join us, see you in Vancouver!
