Global governance thought leader and author of the innovative King III report in South Africa which mandates integrated reporting and other progressive governance structures for companies listed on the Johannesburg stock exchange, Prof. Mervyn King (University of South Africa) will keynote the symposium, reflecting on the emergence of integrated reporting and other governance mechanisms from his position as Chair of the International Integrated Reporting Council. Panelists will then bring several different perspectives on governance to the discussion. Christian Vögtlin (University of Zurich) will discuss the potential of planetary/global governance schemes to encourage responsible innovations aimed at sustainability. Jonathan Doh (Villanova University) will discuss collaborative governance as an integrated model to forge strong, sustainable governance systems at multiple levels. Derick De Jongh (University of Pretoria) will discuss the ways in which integrated reporting and other progressive governance mechanisms are shaping South African business and leadership. Laura Alberada (Deusto Business School) will focus on the global commons as part of Earth system governance as a means of managing the global commons, global markets, and sustainability.
