Honoring Ann

Good morning.  I want to thank the many of you who have honored Ann Buchholtz's memory with a donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Society (see below).  The acknowledgment letters are still arriving, so I'm guessing that some folks are still thinking of giving.  I was about to make a "final" list of names to send to her brother, but wanted to mention it one last time in case you'd planned to send a donation but hadn't gotten to it yet.  The link is  https://goo.gl/GRPVyD  Please have the acknowledgment send to me at the address below and I'll forward your name to her brother.

I write today because I just heard from Ann's only sibling that their 99-year-old mother slipped away yesterday.  Apparently she had declined precipitously over the seven weeks since losing Ann.  Ann had driven to spend her weekends with her mother in York, Pennsylvania, many dozens of times over the last few years since moving to from New Jersey.  She was the most loving daughter (of the, apparently, most loving mother) I had ever seen.

So if you're planning to give, please do it soon if you can so that I can send her brother everyone's' names.  Thank you, all.

    Subject: Our dear Ann

The outpouring of emotion today over the loss of our ever-sunny, ever-stalwart, ever-encouraging friend has been heartening but not surprising.  Ann couldn't help but bring out everyone's warmest feelings.

What many may not know is that Ann had been dealing with Multiple Sclerosis for more than two decades.  I would say "battling" MS if she were anyone else, but with Ann it was more like "cordially negotiating" with MS.  She seldom talked about it, and seldom asked for or accepted accommodations-because "someone else might really need them."  And for many years she persevered.

Once I had absorbed the news yesterday, I was left with the urge to do something.  After talking with Ann's brother, I've decided to make a donation to the MS Society in Ann's honor in hopes that it makes some small difference in other MS victims' lives.  If you've been struck by the same urge and you'd like to do the same, just go to the website:  https://goo.gl/GRPVyD   If you'd like her family to know of the gift in her honor, please feel free to send the notice to my address below and I'll gather them up and send them to Ann's brother.  I'm sure that her family would be pleased.

    What a sad day.

    Lori
