I apologize for the cross posting but I wanted to invite you all to the Organizations and Natural Environment (ONE) plenary session at AOM 2016 which will focus on the applicability and utilization of management theories (e.g., Economic, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Theory, and Strategy) to emerging water related issues.

Water is a particularly relevant theme considering not only the conference location in California, but also many other recent events (e.g., Flint, Michigan; South Africa, India, Syria). These events, along with many others have given rise to increased awareness over the challenges faced with respect to water. This concern was reflected in water crisis recently being ranked by the World Economic Forum as the top long term risk over the coming decade.

This plenary session brings together representatives from Coca Cola and the Circle of Blue, as well as several prominent scholars to discuss how management researchers can help address the emerging crisis created by overuse and misuse of our water resources. Practitioners with experience in water supply, business and non-profit interests have been invited to give their reflections and inside perspectives on the challenges faced by those managing water. The academic representatives will then be given an opportunity to ask questions of the practitioners with the goal of helping management scholars connect their work with the issues surrounding water resources.

Session participants include Wren Montgomery, University of Windsor (Moderator), Joel Andrus, Texas A&M University (Moderator), Glen Dowell, Cornell University (Moderator); Magali Delmas, University of California Los Angeles (Discussant); Shon Hiatt, University of Southern California (Discussant); Tom Lyon, University of Michigan, (Discussant); Jon Radtke, Director of Water Sustainability at Coca Cola (Panelist); and Brett Walton, Reporter at Circle of Blue (Panelist).

The session will be held on Monday, August 8th from 9:45 – 11:15 am in the Marriott Northwest Marquis Ballroom.

More information on the session can be found at http://one.aom.org/index.php/news/newsupdate/47.

    Thanks again,
