OPENING UP HISTORY: ANALYSING THE PAST AND ITS TRACES THROUGH CROSS-DIVISIONAL COLLABORATIONS

Saturday, Aug 6 2016 8:00AM - 10:00AM at Sheraton Park Hotel in Park D. Management History Division, co-sponsored by Critical Management Studies and Organization Development & Change divisions.

Workshops at Academy of Management meetings regularly call for greater integration of Management History (MH) with other divisions. There is also a developing literature that argues for organization analysts to seek rapprochement with historians and vice versa. This PDW responds to both of those calls by bringing together presenters with expertise in historical methods and organization analysis, in order to actually make these two things happen. The workshop consists of 45 minutes of presentation, followed by 45 minutes of small group research development work led by the presenters. The workshop concludes with a 30 minute plenary and panel discussion on publishing historical work. Attendance is limited to 35 to ensure in-depth discussion of the proposals and papers that participants bring.

We would like all involved in this PDW to participate actively. Please pre-register here: http://aom.org/annualmeeting/registration/pdw/ before 15th July, and provide a one page summary of your work in progress to any of the organizers [contact details below]. Participation is limited to 35 people.
