    Hiring: Post-Doctoral Research Associate

    2016-2017

     

     

    The Susilo Institute for Ethics in the Global Economy at Boston University's Questrom School of Business welcomes submissions for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate.  Individuals in this position are encouraged and expected to continue their professional and high quality scholarly agenda on a subject matter of their choosing, in alignment in some manner with the substantive areas of interest of the Susilo Institute (ethics in the global economy).  The Institute from its inception is focused on issues involving global ethics and values from a cross-cultural perspective, with a non-exclusive emphasis on Eastern and Western traditions.  Post docs also shall support efforts of the Institute surrounding communication and outreach, curricular integration, and activities impacting the student experience, both co-curricular and extra-curricular.

     

    Submissions are encouraged from diverse academic disciplines, including traditional business backgrounds as well as liberal arts.  Ph.D.'s from philosophy, or other areas including social sciences or law are welcome to apply.  Applicants must have a Ph.D. or other terminal degree, or expect to complete their degree or defense by June, 2016 at an accredited institution.

     

    Candidates should present with the following capacities:

    ·       Commitment to the highest possible standards of academic and personal integrity

    ·       Exceptional written and oral communication skills

    ·       Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject disciplines

    ·       Organizational and project management skills

    ·       Self-initiative, high personal motivation, self-management, and detail-orientation, as well as responsibility to meet deadlines without oversight

    ·       Ability and interest to work on a team and the ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds

    ·       Ability to maintain accurate records of research findings and the analysis of results

    ·       Demonstrated ability to see projects through to completion

     

    Post docs are encouraged to join in the culture and academic environment of Questrom and of the Boston University campus.  The Susilo Institute is proud that Net Impact ranks Questrom's MBA as 22nd in the world for social impact. The undergraduate program at Questrom has been ranked in the top 25 business programs in the country (Bloomberg), 32nd among global universities (US News), and the MBA program has been ranked in the top 40 (PT) and 50 (FT) (both). 

     

    The position duration is offered for a period of one year, from July 1 through June 30, though the individual shall receive primary consideration for future years, depending on mutual interest. 

     

    Interested applicants should submit a letter of application, current c.v., writing sample, three references, and explanation of anticipated scholarship project(s) for the upcoming year by email to Susilo@bu.edu as soon as possible.  The position will be filled on a rolling basis.
