Dear Colleagues:
I would like to invite you to participate in a research study. I am collecting syllabi from introductory sustainable business courses to determine if there are patterns emerging on course content that might constitute seminal works that every sustainable business student should read. Included in my study are certificate, undergraduate, and graduate programs.
Since sustainable business is still in its infancy, I am trying to identify if there is emerging consensus among faculty on what should be taught in an introductory sustainable business course. There are 3 criteria for inclusion in the survey:
- entry-level courses that
- focus on the triple bottom line of sustainability and that
- focus on sustainability as it applies to business
Excluded from this survey are advanced-level courses which assume prior knowledge of sustainability, courses that focus on only a single element of sustainability (such as "green"), general education courses that are not specific to the field of business, and functional area specific courses (such as sustainability accounting or sustainable supply chains).
If you would like to participate in this study, please forward to me a copy of the reading list for your introductory sustainable business course. I am happy to share early results with those who participate.
Thank you for your consideration.
Best regards,
--
