    Social Entrepreneurship Doctoral Seminar
    July 29-August 3, 2012

A week-long intensive social entrepreneurship doctoral seminar will be offered by Professor Tom Lumpkin this summer in Boston during the week preceding the Academy of Management meeting. The course will be offered July 29-August 3, 2012 on the campus of Northeastern University within walking distance of the main AOM meeting locations.

Students will apply and be admitted based on their qualifications and letters of interest. A maximum of ten students will be admitted (including 1-2 slots for junior faculty who may be interested). Students will be expected to prepare prior to the intensive seminar (by reading approximately 50 academic journal articles). During the months immediately following the seminar, students will be expected to write an article for submission to a journal and/or academic conference. As such, the course will meet the scholarly and contact hours requirements to qualify as a 3-hour doctoral level credit course.

Comments by previous students who have taken the course:
"The strength of the class was the intensity of discussion. It was structured around certain themes, however the flexibility existed to allow discussions to deviate where necessary. I think you managed to create a good, supportive and open environment" – Dominic Chalmers, University of Strathclyde
"I would unhesitatingly recommend this course to any serious PhD student who was willing to work and think hard, to gain useful insights and enduring connections to the material and the other students" – Les Hayes, University of Calgary

"Would I recommend the course to a colleague? YES. It is so rare to find a place where SE research is approached well... I really enjoyed the structure and content of the 10 sessions" – Thierry Amslem, Sorbonne University, 2012 graduate
